My name is Fred Riepsaame and I was born in Rotterdam in 1959 and now retired.

I started taking photographs in 1978, developing and printing my own black and white photos. In 2006, I switched from analog to digital.

I learned a lot by reading, for example, in photography magazines and later online, but also by observing.

More importantly, I do a lot of photography, trying things out, and learning from my mistakes, because that's all part of it.

I still enjoy and passionately photograph my city, Rotterdam, and I learn new things every day.

Observing and photographing people in all kinds of everyday situations is my passion. Simply put, "not posed," but also taking portraits of people who appeal to me, for example, through clothing, expression, makeup, or natural beauty, is a challenge.

I also find architectural (city) photography, and even a bit of abstract photography, interesting.

I also enjoy photographing the construction of new projects (buildings/bridges etc.) as well as the demolition of buildings, as you can find under the Rotterdam tab and for old photos under the Analog Archive tab and then click on "Old Rotterdam".
